We test corrosion resistance with our salt spray test to ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards.

Our products are rigorously tested with salt solution!

Some days, our quality assurance employees have that pure sea feeling!

Corrosion resistance is an important quality and safety feature for many of our products and must therefore be checked and guaranteed.

In our in-house salt spray chamber, we analyse the effect of salt spray on the rubber coatings or the surfaces of our magnet systems. The salt spray test in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9227 (NSS test) is a standardised test for evaluating the corrosion resistance of a material or an anti-corrosion coating on it. The test pieces are positioned under standardised conditions in a test chamber in which a 5% saline solution with a controlled pH value is continuously atomised at a temperature of 35 °C - the mist settles on the test pieces and covers them with a corrosive salt water film. The special test chamber and the standardised conditions guarantee correct, reliable measurement results for our quality controls.

The salt spray test is carried out continuously until the specified test duration is reached. At BRUGGER, the duration of this quality control is usually 1000 hours, although other exposure times are of course possible depending on customer requirements. The test durations depend on the expected corrosion resistance of the tested material system. At the end of the test duration, the corrosion phenomena that have occurred on the test specimens are assessed, e.g. according to the degree of rust, blistering and corrosive infiltration of organic coatings.
