Customised solutions

When off-the-shelf solutions aren’t enough, that’s when we really get started. We can design and build your bespoke magnetic solution exactly as it needs to be – no detours, no compromises.

From the initial concept to the finished bespoke system...

At BRUGGER, we define custom product development as the process of devising bespoke solutions that meet the unique needs of our customers. This encompasses the targeted adaptation of existing systems as well as the development of entirely new approaches that are precisely tailored to your specific requirements. These bespoke systems are truly exclusive solutions for your business!

Whether it’s magnetic holding, positioning, separation, coupling, shielding or guidance: magnetic functions may seem simple – but in practice they rarely are. Factors such as temperature, corrosion, installation environments, installation space, tolerances and standards determine whether a product will function reliably and stably in the long term.
This is precisely where our engineering comes into play: we transform complex requirements into a measurably robust solution.

Formwork magnet

This system is used as a formwork magnet in the precast concrete sector. The release lever allows the system, which adheres very strongly, to be easily detached from the metal surface. The casing, made of hard-wearing polyurethane, ensures it can withstand rough handling in this environment. We developed the design in accordance with our customer’s geometric specifications and adapted it to our production lines.

Magnetic filters for pipes

This external pipe filter helps to trap iron-containing particles on the inside wall of the pipe. This requires special pipe inserts, which can be removed from the pipe for cleaning. The filter can then be opened up for cleaning. This product was developed at the customer’s request, designed by us, and its production adapted to our manufacturing facilities.

Magnetic ball mount for a light fitting

This magnetic system was developed specifically for a very interesting lamp design. With the aid of the magnet on the sphere, this lamp can be rotated continuously within the room. We designed and developed this product in collaboration with the customer, and initially produced it as a prototype. The tool for this product was also manufactured in our toolmaking department.

Magnetic system for pneumatic grippers

The inner workings of a magnetically-held pneumatic gripper for the handling and automation of magnetically-adhering components. The pneumatically-controlled mechanism creates a gripper that can be switched between magnetic and non-magnetic modes. The functionality and geometry of this new development were specified by the customer. We made adjustments, such as the arrangement of the magnets, during the development process.

We’ll solve your problem – magnetically!

We are happy to take on technical challenges – based on a needs analysis, our product development team advises customers on the best technological solutions to address the issues at hand.

Spirit level magnet

This magnetic system is clipped into place at the side of a spirit level’s aluminium profile. The spirit level can then attach itself to steel profiles. Indispensable for hands-free work. The task for the BRUGGER development team here was to improve the pole shoe system. Following the optimisation, the appropriate tool was manufactured in our toolmaking department and series production was adapted to our production lines.

Magnetic kitchen tap

In addition to the weight of the hose, a magnet is integrated into the pull-out spray arm of the sink mixer tap to ensure that the spray head is correctly positioned in its holder and held securely in place. Our client’s problem was sealing the existing magnet system against water ingress. Our development department designed and optimised the plastic injection mould for this purpose, ensuring that the integrated magnets are now protected against splash water.

Examples of design and implementation:

We are also happy to offer our support in the design of your components and products – based on your idea – or according to your drawings.
Whether you need a subcontractor to provide temporary staffing support for your design department, or you’re a start-up entrepreneur needing help to bring an innovative product idea to life – we’re the right innovation partner for you ! We’re also happy to help if you simply need a CAD model or a 3D print.

Magnetic system for level indication

A magnetic system manufactured to the customer’s specifications, integrated into a float for level indication. We have adapted the production of the system to our manufacturing methods. Hermetically sealed housing.

Holding magnet for a packaging machine

Magnetic systems of this kind are used to secure and release all kinds of fixtures in machinery. In this case, it is a fixture for a tube holder used for filling toothpaste tubes.

Schalungsmagnet für Betonschalungen

Magnetic system for securing concrete formwork

A highly adhesive pole shoe system for precast concrete elements. Suitable frames and formwork supports are secured precisely and slip-proofly to the formwork table. Once the formwork has been removed, these magnetic systems are released using a lifting tool and cleaned, so that they are ready for the next use.

A magnetic yoke as a measuring instrument

A magnetic yoke can be used to measure the oxygen content. Due to its paramagnetic properties, the oxygen in the gas mixture is attracted by the magnetic field. The change in the magnetic field caused by the attraction of the oxygen is detected by a sensor, and the signal detected is then converted into a value representing the oxygen concentration in the gas mixture.

Magnetic stirrer for contactless mixing

A magnetic stirrer is a device that uses a rotating magnet to create a stirring action in liquids, in order to distribute mixtures evenly. It is frequently used in chemical laboratories because it enables contactless and uniform mixing – even in sealed vessels. In this particular system, no ‘counter-magnet’ is moved within the liquid; instead, fine magnetic stainless-steel needles are ‘stirred’ in a vessel above it containing a cleaning fluid. These are then used to polish and clean medical prostheses.

Frequently asked questions about special systems.

At what quantity does a bespoke system become worthwhile?
Even for small batches of 100–500 units, a modified standard system can be more cost-effective than settling for off-the-shelf products.

How long does a new product development typically take?
Depending on the complexity, between 8 and 16 weeks from the initial consultation to sample production. Modifications are completed much more quickly – often within 2–4 weeks.

Who owns the IP for new product developments?
You do. We develop on your behalf. The result belongs to you.

Can I commission just the development and have it manufactured elsewhere?
Technically, yes. However, from a business perspective, it usually makes more sense to source both development and manufacturing from a single provider – you save on coordination efforts and reduce risks.
